Things to do in Biu

A town on the volcanic Biu Plateau, with crater lakes, cooler air and Babur-Bura culture.

Borno State North East

Biu is a town in southern Borno State, on the Biu Plateau, an upland area formed by ancient volcanic activity. It is the seat of the Emir of Biu and the main town of the Babur-Bura people.

The plateau's height gives Biu a slightly milder climate than the plains of central Borno, and its landscape of extinct volcanic cones, craters and lava fields is unusual in Nigeria.
