How to Run a Session from the Meeting View and Control Panel

This guide helps hosts run a session using the main meeting view, participant tiles, the host lobby panel, and the control panel. It focuses on what you can do during a live session to keep attention, movement, and participation clear.

What you'll see

As a host, you may see:

  • Lobby
  • Participants
  • Chat
  • participant tiles that can be selected
  • a broadcast message area at the top
  • the host control panel
  • recording controls
  • Share meeting link
  • Copy live link

Steps

  1. Use the main meeting view to watch the room and identify who should have attention.
  2. Click a participant tile when you want that person brought into focus for everyone.
  3. Open Participants when you need to find someone, review hands, or manage individuals.
  4. Open Chat to follow questions and keep written communication active during the session.
  5. Open Lobby when you are admitting people from the waiting area.
  6. Use the control panel when you need room-wide actions such as muting everyone, lowering hands, or sending a message to the whole session.

What this means in practice

The host experience is split across the meeting view and the control panel. The meeting view helps you see what is happening now. The control panel helps you act on it. If someone should be the current focus, use their tile. If the room needs a wider action, use the host controls.

This is also where session flow becomes visible. You can keep attention on the active speaker, follow the chat, admit people from the lobby, and make sure announcements stay clear.

Limitations to know

  • A focused tile helps direct attention, but it does not replace normal session management.
  • The lobby is available only when the session is using it.
  • Some controls are visible only to hosts.

Common mistakes

  • Trying to manage the whole session only from chat instead of also using the control panel.
  • Forgetting to check the lobby while people are waiting.
  • Leaving an old broadcast message in place after it is no longer useful.

If something isn't working

  • If people say they are waiting outside the session, check Lobby.
  • If the room is noisy, move to the control panel and use Mute all.
  • If too many people are distracting the view, use tile focus and the participants list together.
  • If someone says they cannot follow instructions, use a broadcast message so everyone sees the same guidance.
