Obudu is a town in the north of Cross River State, at the foot of the Obudu Plateau on the edge of the Sankwala Mountains near the Cameroon border. The plateau rises to around 1,500 metres, which makes it one of the coolest places in Nigeria.
The plateau was first developed as a cattle ranch in the 1950s and is now a mountain resort area with rolling grassland, forested valleys and waterfalls. Most visitors come for the scenery, the climate and the walks.

Drive up the plateau
The road from Obudu town climbs the escarpment in a long series of hairpin bends, with views opening across the valleys. It is one of the most scenic drives in the country.
-
Ride the cable car
A cable car links the base of the plateau with the top, giving a bird's-eye view of the slopes and forest below.
-
Walk the canopy walkway and trails
A canopy walkway runs through the treetops of a forested valley, and trails lead to waterfalls, a grotto, natural pools and viewpoints. Birdwatchers come for the montane forest species.
